Ministry Council Summary of Actions(8-10 November 2007)

1. The Ministry Council met November 8-10, 2007, at Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Bartlett, Tennessee.
2. Agreed that the Ministry Council will honor the post-retirement agreement between Davis Gray and the General Assembly Council following the dissolution of the General Assembly Council. This agreement provides for Davis Gray to continue in a part-time position with the Ministry Council to aid in the restructuring transition. Mary McCaskey, Administrative Assistant to Davis Gray, will continue in her position.
3. Met with available Denominational Center Staff to discuss transition issues and concerns. Fourteen staff members were present.
4. The corporate charter for the Ministry Council is being prepared by legal counsel to be presented to the upcoming Called Meeting of the General Assembly.
5. Approved a working copy of the Job Description for the Chief Ministry Officer (Director of Ministries). After input from the Denominational Center Staff, the final version of this document will be available to the church at-large on December 7, 2007.  Position will be advertised through various means through the entire Church with salary commensurate with skills, experience, and sense of Call.
6. Formed a six-member Search Committee to receive dossiers and applications for the Chief Ministry Officer (Director of Ministries) consisting of the Ministry Council's Executive Committee (Mike Wilkinson, Gwen Roddye, Iwao Satoh, and Elizabeth Horsley), one Council member at-large (Jill Carr), and one Denominational Center Staff member (Marjorie Shannon). After reviewing dossiers and applications, the Search Committee will recommend applicants to the entire Ministry Council for interviewing and possible extension of Call.
7. Adopted the following tentative timeline to fill the position of Chief Ministry Officer (Director of Ministries):
   
   
   • December 7, 2007-April 11, 2008: Advertise the position and receive dossiers and applications.
   • April 12-30, 2008: Search Committee reviews dossiers and applications.
   • May 1-7, 2008: Search Committee schedules interviews.
   • May 8-10, 2008: Ministry Council conducts interviews.
   • May 16, 2008: Extend the Call.
   • July 1, 2008: Assumption of duties by the Chief Ministry Officer (Director of Ministries)
8. Ministry Council representatives will be available to the 2008 presbyterial and synodic Spring meetings.
9. Approved report to the called meeting of General Assembly, and elected Rickey Page as the Council's Representative and Ellie Scrudder as Alternate. Elected Mike Wilkinson as Representative to the 2008 General Assembly in Japan and Sam Romines as Alternate.

11. The next meeting of the Ministry Council will be January 18-20, 2008, in Fort Worth, Texas.
