Brown C. Welch

Cumberland Presbyterian Minister

1911 - 2000

Life Partnership Formed By Young Couple

A wedding of interest to a large circle of friends was that of Miss Julia Young and the Rev. Brown C. Welch, who were united in marriage at Floydada, Texas, where Amarillo Presbytery was in session, on Saturday evening, March 20, just after the close of the evening service. The wedding took place in the presence of a few friends, with the Rev. E. M. Jennings, pastor of the Lubbock Cumberland Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mrs. Jennings played "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," and after prayer the vows were read and entered into by the contracting parties in what the officiating minister has described as one of the most Christian weddings he ever witnessed.

Brother Welch, whose home was formerly at Savannah, Tenn., was for two years a student at Bethel College, where he made good in his school work. He is now pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Shamrock, Texas, where he is doing a good work. He makes friends rapidly, is a close student of the Cumberland Presbyterian doctrine, and a promising young preacher.

Mrs. Welch, who is a daughter of C. F. Young, of near Lubbock, has been for a number of years an active worker in various departments of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Lubbock. She is a graduate of Lubbock High School and the Texas Technological College. She is now teaching in the English department of a fine rural school.

Both are thoroughly consecrated to Christ and the church. Their many friends wish for them a long life of happiness and usefulness in the Master's service.--Reporter.
