"Licentiate J. B. Oakley presented a letter of dismission and recommendation from the Kentucky Presbytery, upon which he was received under the care of this Presbytery."
"A communication from the Troy session, asking the ordination of Brother J. B. Oakley, was read and referred to the Committee on Examination."
"Brother J. B. Oakley appeared before the committee on Saturday and was examined on all the branches of study required by our book, but did not stand an approved examination. We have before us the overtures from the Troy session for his ordination, but your committee make no recommendation."
"The Presbytery voted to ordain Brother J. B. Oakley to-night at 7:30 o'clock, and appointed the Rev. T.O. Webb to preach the ordination sermon and the Rev. R. H. Brown to preside and give the charge."
