The father was born in Kentucky September 23, 1785, and came to Tennessee in 1831, locating at Lafayette Furnace, being manager of the same. Remaining there for twenty years, he moved to Bear Creek, Dickson County, where he lived until his death, which occurred in 1874. The mother was born in Maryland in 1793.
