REV. A. J. McGEE died in Fannin county, Texas, May 24th, 1876. Bro. McGee has long been a standard bearer in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church; was born in Tennessee, and filled much of his ministry in his native State. He was known to the writer in the good old camp-meeting times of years ago. He was a co-laborer with Rev. John Tate, who was among the first to plant our Church in East Tennessee.
Bro. McGee was much beloved by a large circle of friends in his native State, and was always a zealous advocate of his Master's cause. Perhaps few excelled him as a presbyter, and he will surely be greatly missed as clerk of Presbytery and Synod, which he was faithful to attend, and which he served in that capacity perhaps more than any other man. Bro. McGee moved to Texas a number of years ago, and as was his wont, manifested an abiding interest in all the enterprises of the Church. No man could make his friends feel more at home than he when they called to share his hospitality. He leaves a large family, and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss, but our loss is his infinite gain. Peace to his ashes. Papers of Fannin county, Texas, please copy. W. P.
