The committee on conference submitted
the following report, That Bros, D. J. Waggoner, W. A. Bean, S.
J. Gentry and W.
H. Gentry were before it for conference, and that each
gave satisfactory evidence of their conviction and conversion
and of a divine call to the Ministry. Committee recommended that
the above named Brethren be received under the care of the Elk
Pesbytery of the C. P. Church as probationers for the ministry;
and further recommended that Bros. Waggoner and Bean be licensed
to preach the Gospel under the authority of the C. P. Church.
Committee also recommended to Bros. Gentry that they prepare
themselves for Licensure as soon as practicable. The four brethren
were urged by the committee and also by Presbytery to 1st study
our Confession of Faith and Form of Government, and that they
will note with care its requirement for schollarship, and that
they will each prepare for examination thereon, at the spring
meeting of Presbytery, and that Brother Waggoner, prepare a written
discourse on John 3.36, Brother Bean will take Psalms 119-105
verse, Brother Sam Gentry, 2 Cor 5-17, Brother W.
H. Gentry, Rom. 5-1. This report was adopted.
On
motion Bros. Gentry and R. L. Stem were directed to go
to unionville and hold a Sunday service and elect elders if necessary.

The Committee on Examination
& Conference made the following report was was adopted &
is as follows. We recommend that written discourses be submitted
to your Committee at the n3ext meeting of Presbytery. Bro.
W. H. Gentry will take John, 3 & 16, Bro. S. J. Gentry
will take, Acts 16 & 31.
Report No. 2. Examination
& Conference. As your Committee on Examination & Conference,
we hereby submit the following report. We have had before us Bros.
Waggoner, S. J. & W.
H. Gentry, J. W. Stiles, These brethren have stood a very
satisfactory examination so far as we have gone with them.
We recommend that Bros. S. J. & W.
H. Gentry shall be licensed to preach the Gospel under
the care of, & by the authority of the Elk
Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
That
this service shall take place immediately after the adoption of
this report, & that Rev. J. B. Eshman our stated Clerk, shall
propound the solemn covenant to these brethren & shall conduct
the service of licenseure.
Following the adoption
of the above report, Bros. S. J. & W.
H. Gentry were licened to preach the Gospel, in the bounds
of this Presbytery or werever their lot may be cast.
