Minister
absent - G. O. Dean
A communication from Rev. G. O. Dean, asking that his name be dropped from the Roll of Amarillo Presbytery. Referred to Special Committee in investigation, of Cecil Davidson and G. O. Dean. By motion the committee report was accepted, and filed. Marked I.
Report of Special Committee on Investigation.
We
had the matters of rumors concerning Rev. G. O. Dean, who asked
for a letter from this Presbytery.
Regarding Rev.
G. O. Dean, we have a letter from him, which is herewith attached,
in which he asks that his name be dropped from the roll of ministers
of Amarillo
Presbytery.
We therefore recommend that
his name be dropped and that the records show that this was done
at his request, and that Rev. Dean be so notified by the Stated
Clerk. Further, we call attention to the fact that a man's good
name is gone of his most sacred possessions, and that when it
is once lost or degraded it may never be regained or it may take
a lifetime if it is regained. We therefore would recommend that
all ministers, elders and other laymen of the church be very careful
about repeating rumors against a minister or other individuals,
unless they know some facts to back up their statements. In other
words they should be able to produce facts to support their statements,
or keep their mouths closed.
Respectfully submitted,
W. H. Cheatham
E. M. Jennings

Hodges
