DEATH CLAIMS SYNOD CLERK
--Rev. James W. Dancer, stated clerk of the Synod of West Tennessee, died June 10 following several months of illness due to a stroke. The 65-year-old minister who was pastor of the Mt. Vernon church, Ramer, Tenn. had planned to retire the first of June.

During his 42-year ministry in the church he had served pastorates in Iowa, Alabama, and most of the time in Tennessee. His last pastorate was his home church.

The funeral was held in Selmer, Tenn. with Scott W. Johnson conducting the service, assisted by Newsome Harvey.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Dancer; two daughter, Mrs. Tommy Jobe of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Mrs. T. E. Butler, Jr., Arlington, Tenn., and grandchildren.
