Samuel D. Bradley and Catharine Campbell married in Christian County, Kentucky September 16, 1800. Samuel's father was Hezekiah Bradley who at one time owned over 2,000 acres of land in Christian County but in 1804 he lived in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky and in Knox County, Indiana Territory in 1809. He possibly died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1826. Samuel's only known sibling at this writing was a brother William, administrator of Samuel's estate. Christian County records listed Samuel as early as 1797. He served, among other things, as sheriff, justice of the peace and presiding magistrate of the commissioners' court. There is definite proof that the following were children of Samuel D. and Catharine Campbell Bradley: William H., Collins Johnson and Matilda (Mrs. Francis) Howard. The following were probably their children also: John L., Elizabeth L., Charles, Nancy, Isaac, Agnes, Anderson P., Sarah C., Martha R., Jeannette E., Franklin, Willis R. and Peter.
Catharine Campbell Bradley was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) Campbell. John Campbell died between February 11, and May 4, 1806. Elizabeth married Thomas Baker November 11, 1806. The children of John and Elizabeth were: Benjamin P., George, William, John Jr., an attorney, Peggy and Elizabeth. John Campbell was appointed surveyor of Christian County by the governor in 1797. He also served for a number of years as chief magistrate of the commissioners' court, was a justice of the peace and a tax commissioner. He was the surveyor who ran the county line between Christian and Logan Counties.
The Reverend Collins Johnson Bradley, Sr., a Cumberland Presbyterian minister, born October 6, 1809 married first Judith Totten June 5, 1834 in Obion County, Tennessee. Judith died about March, 1846 in Henry County, Tennessee. Judith's parents were Benjamin and Polly McDonald Totten, Jr. of Tennessee. Polly was a daughter of Phillip and Judith McDonald who were buried at Totten's Well (Harris Crossing), Obion County, Tennessee. The children of Collins Johnson and Judith Totten Bradley were: Mary Catharine (Mrs. William P.) Gillespie, the Reverend Samuel Lycurgus, also a Cumberland Presbyterian minister and Judith (Mrs. Alfred) Bassano.
Collins Johnson Bradley, Sr. married secondly Sarah Coleman July 4, 1849 in Haywood County, Tennessee. Their children were: Edward Coleman, Benjamin Roach, Horace B., Laura Eloise, the Reverend Collins Johnson, Jr., Nora (Mrs. J. H.) Fry and John Willis. Collins Johnson Bradley, Sr. died April 10, 1872 and was buried at Dover, Arkansas. Sarah died in Medina County, Texas.
The Reverend Samuel Lycurgus Bradley, Sr., born July 14, 1841 near Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, married Lucy Jane Lackland July 9, 1858 in Arkansas. Lucy Jane Lackland was the daughter of Allen B. and Lydia White Lackland of Arkansas. Lydia died on their way to Texas probably near Magnolia, Arkansas. Allen B. Lackland was buried at the Wrightsboro Cemetery, Gonzales County, Texas. The children of Samuel L. and Lucy Lackland Bradley Sr. were: Allen J., Samuel Lycurgus (Joe) Jr., Mary, Judith, John A., Fred S., Ned, Willis, and Ben. Samuel, Sr. died December 16, 1886 and Lucy died September 7, 1897. They are buried in the Wrightsboro Cemetery.
Samuel Lycurgus (Joe) Bradley, Jr. born September 11, 1863 near Hope, Arkansas, married December 23, 1884 to Fannie Ophelia Pierpont in Gonzales County, Texas. Fannie was the daughter of William John Davis Pierpont, who was the son of William Pierpont, an early settler of Texas, born 1798 in New Haven, Conn. and Sophronia Frisbie born 1797 of Burlington and Farmington, Conn. S. L. Bradley, Jr. died January 9, 1904, Gonzales County, Texas and Fannie died April 29, 1912 in Hays County, Texas. Both are buried in the Wrightsboro Cemetery, Gonzales, County, Texas.
