A communication from Mr. Raymond Coffelt, Session Clerk of the Rock Creek Church was read. The communication was a request from the church for the Presbytery to dispose of the church building, due to the fact that the congregation is inactive and that no services have been held in the church in more than a year.

Report of Committee on the Rock Creek Church

We, your Committee on the Rock Creek Church, submit the following report:

Since the last meeting of Presbytery, your committee has consulted at various times with one another regarding the Rock Creek Church Property. The Chairman of the committee has visited some of the members of the church and examined the condition of the property.

We have found that the building is in good condition, with the exception of parts of the roof which need repair. However, it is our understanding that Mr. Raymond Coffelt, former Clerk of the Session, has some funds from insurance which are available for repair of the property.

We have also checked the recording of the deed of the church property and found the deed recorded in good order. A record of the deed is found in the Stephens County Court House, Duncan, Oklahoma, Book 81, page 252 of the County Clerk's Office.

Presbytery has complete authority over the property, since the Session of the church in their last meeting requested that Presbytery assume full responsibility. Also, at this meeting of the Session, it was decided, according to the information of your committee, that the Session would dissolve.

We have also leased the mineral rights on the approximate 1 acre of land to Mr. Simpson Hurst, Comanche, Oklahoma, for the sum of $50.00, which is deposited in the First National Bank in Marlow, Oklahoma, under the name of Chickasaw Presbytery.

We have had a request from a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Duncan to use the building for a community revival during the week following Easter. The purpose of the revival would be to survey the community in a five-mile radius of the church and to stimulate interest in the community with the possibility of establishing the church again.

It has continually been the attitude of the remaining church members, as far as we can ascertain, that they had rather see the church sold or torn down than to see it stand and deteriorate to destruction.

Therefore, we recommend that permission be given to the Baptist group to conduct a revival following Easter with the hope that the church might be of some further service to Christ in the community.

We also recommend that the membership of the church be transferred to the Marlow Cumberland Presbyterian Church after opportunity has been given to each member to transfer their membership to the church of their choice, and that the Rock Creek Church be dissolved.

Respectfully submitted,
Bob Hull, Chairman
Guy Thompson
F. H. LaFollette.

Report of Commission on Sale of Rock Creek Church

We, your Commission on the Sale of the Rock Creek Church, would like to make our final report regarding the sale of the Rock Creek Church and property.

Attached to this report you will find the financial statement of this commission on the receipts and expenditures of the commission. (see with financial statement of Stated Clerk.) All funds have been deposited through the Office of the Stated Clerk of Presbytery, and the Clerk has all funds at this time.

The Rock Creek Church building and pews were sold to Mr. Elvie E. Sewell of Duncan, Oklahoma, for a total cost of $600. The approximate one acre of land was sold to Mr. Ted Johnston of Comanche, Oklahoma, for a cost of $125. In addition to this, the piano in the church was sold for $50. Also the balances in the following funds have been deposited with the Stated Clerk:

Rock Creek Sunday School Treasury, $62.31 by Mrs. Henry Angely
Rock Creek Missionary Treasury, $11.16 by Mrs. Raymond Coffelt
Rock Creek Church Treasury, $54.73 by Mr. Raymond Coffelt.

In 1959 the land was leased for $50.00. Of course, there have been some expenses in selling the property; but about a total of $954.74 has been received in disposing of the business of the Rock Creek Church.

Until the present time, there has been no disposition of the membership of the church. There remains from six to ten people who have not joined other churches. These have been visited, but no action has been taken.

Records of all transactions are on file with the Stated Clerk.

Respectfully submitted,
Robert L. Hull
Guy Thompson
