English, Mrs. Lettie Grandy, Miss Mary Agnes Buquo, Mrs. Jane Clark, Mrs. Marion Jones, A. D. English, R. L. Leech, G. W. Buquo, Tom Heard, Edward L. Buquo, H. C. Buquo, and S. J. Larkins. G. W. Buquo - a former elder of the Erin congregation - and R. L. Leech - a former elder of the Charlotte congregation - were elected as elders of the new church. Also, A. D. English was elected and ordained as an elder; after which, all three men were installed as ruling elders of the Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The church joined Charlotte Presbytery on October 6, 1899. [Source: Minutes of the Session of the Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Book I.]

First building. The Dickson church built a brick church on North Main Street sometime between 1903 and 1906. A large mortgage was given on the building, and in 1923 the property was sold for commercial purposes. This building was torn down, and the Jackson's Clinic has been built where it was. Second building. In 1923, under the leadership of Rev. A. H. Sykes, the Dickson church purchased a lot on the corners of West Fifth Street and Bryant Avenue. A block building with a full size basement was built on the lot. [Source: Lula Bell Hopkins, History of the Dickson Church (manuscript).]

III. THE ATTEMPTED UNION OF 1906

The Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., got the Dickson property temporarily at the time of the attempted union. A small group of Cumberland Presbyterian continued to worship in a lodge hall on the east side on Main Street, in the business district. The building was finally given back to the Cumberland Presbyterian by court. [Source: Lula Bell Hopkins, History of the Dickson Church (manuscript).]
